NON-DIRECTIONAL BEACONS PDF Print E-mail
NDBs have been at the heart of Picha Aircraft Radio Service since the 1980's.  I know what you are thinking.  "But that equipment is so old and nobody uses it anymore - why bother?"  Let me ask you a question - has everyone at your airport upgraded their avionics and removed the ADF to replace it with a GPS?  Some pilots still rely on the ADF System because that is what they have and it works very well for them.  ADF Systems for aircraft are still being maintained in avioincs shops.  Do you want to take this system away from your customer?
NDB
Picha Aircraft Radio Service works with the Federal Aviation Administration during our annual inspections of the facilites we maintain.  The FAA has shown no interest in phasing out NDBs yet.  Older sites that are no longer supported by the manufacturer have been upgraded to the latest technologies to provide a very reliable system that will continued to serve the aviation community for many years to come.  Manufacturers such as Southern Avionics are building systems now that will provide your airport with a level of confidence in your NDB that the old tube-types could never match.

We at Picha Aircraft Radio Service hope that when your NDB goes down again you will consider allowing us to provide a quote to upgrade the site rather than decommissioning it.  As a navigational aid, NDBs are still being used throughout the country.  Let us help those pilots find you.
